Caryn completed her BSc Physiotherapy at Stellenbosch University in 2008 after which she went to Barberton in Mpumalanga for her year of community service. She has practiced in the private sector for over a decade. Her passion for sport improves her ability to treat sport injuries and orthopeadic conditions.

IlseAbout Ilse Krog:

Ilse is originally from Bethal in Mpumalanga and completed her BSc in Physiotherapy at the University of Pretoria in 2004. Ilse completed her community service year at Witbank General Government Hospital, after which she moved to the UK. She worked as a physiotherapist for the NHS in the UK for 4 years before returning to Pretoria, where she worked in private practice for a year. In 2010, Ilse moved to Cape Town and joined a private hospital-based practice in the northern suburbs, where she gained a broad range experience. Ilse joined Caryn Adam Physiotherapy in 2020 after moving with her husband and two young sons to Somerset West.
Ilse has an abundance of energy and enjoys an active lifestyle. She is a keen long distance runner and enjoys mountain biking and a variety of other outdoor activities, which helps with the understanding and treatment of sport related injuries.
As well as treating Orthopeadic and Sports injuries, Ilse has experience in: -Peadiatric chest conditions, Post-surgical treatment and rehabilitation (e.g. lymph drainage, cardiac rehab), Women’s health and breastfeeding conditions and visceral mobilization after abdominal surgery. Ilse is particularly interested in Vestibular rehabilitation, which relates to problems with balance, dizziness, and tinnitus.
Ilse’s passion is to establish a sincere connection with all her patients, who she treats with professionalism, humility, respect, and empathy.

ChanelAbout Chanel Van Zyl:

Chanel completed her BSc Physiotherapy degree at Stellenbosch University in 2012, which was followed by her community service year in Graaff-Reinet. Upon completion of her community service year, she returned to the Winelands area where she worked in the Somerset West/Strand area for four years – gaining valuable experience in the field of cardio-respiratory rehabilitation and neuromuscular conditions. She also accompanied the South African Women’s Tug of War Team as their physiotherapist in 2014. She then transitioned to a well-respected practice based in the northern suburbs where she obtained further experience in multiple fields of physiotherapy including neurological and orthopaedic surgical conditions, women’s health, paediatric pulmonary conditions and chronic pain.
Given her passion for evidence-based practice, she later returned to Stellenbosch University to pursue and complete her Master of Physiotherapy degree (2020).
Chanel joined Caryn Adam Physiotherapy in June 2021 and is delighted to have settled and be able to serve in the Strand/Somerset West communities. Chanel enjoys an active lifestyle including leisure and sporting activities like swimming, hiking and running.
Her treatment approaches aim to address all psychosocial components, including her passion for physical activity and rehabilitation.
